Chessboxing at OPEN Norwich

Sean Mooney (creadit Christie Goodwin)

It was never thought that the city of Norwich was ready for the ultimate biathalon.

No-one believed that the good people of Norfolk would rise to the challenge of the ultimate test of brain and braun and yet…. so they have. See the bravest and brightest of the East take on fighters from London in the first showdown of it’s type ever to raise money for Yellobric on the 21st of October 2017.

We have a stellar line-up of fighters and entertainers including new faces from Norfolk and established stars of the chessboxing scene. With Norwich’s stunning venue Open providing the setting, chessboxing has never looked this good before!

Chessboxing is a wild mix-up of two of mankind’s oldest sporting obsessions. Opponents slug it out on the chessboard and in the ring in alternating rounds of chess and boxing until there is a winner by checkmate or KO, whichever comes first.

Chessboxing has been described as both nerd-fighting and the ultimate sporting challenge of the 21st Century. We say, who cares?! This sporting mash-up makes for an unforgettable night out.
